EPD Daily Blotter – March 4th 2010

· On Sunday, February 28, 2010, Patrick Spencer Hamrick, pastor of Leaksville Methodist Church located at 603 Henry Street, Eden, N.C., reported that the music director went into her office and found what looked like human feces on the floor in front of her desk. The pastor reported that he had put out the bulletins on Friday around mid day and they were gone on this date. He also reported that a church member was taking out the trash and found a white male walking on the ground floor of the church. The church member spoke to the man, but he just kept walking and never answered. The investigation continues.
· On Monday, March 1, 2010, Talmadge Felmon Barber of 239 Adams Street, Eden, N.C., reported that someone stole his Smith and Wesson handgun valued at $324 from a wardrobe cabinet in his bedroom. There is a suspect in the case. The investigation continues.
· On Monday, March 1, 2010, Joshua Taylor Corum of 809 Spring Street, Eden, N.C., reported that he was assaulted by someone after he answered a knock at the door. Corum told the suspect to get off his property and when he said that, the suspect went to his vehicle and got a set of brass knuckles and came back and assaulted Corum with them. Corum required two staples to close the wound at Morehead Hospital. The investigation continued.

· On Tuesday, March 2, 2010, Shontae Devon Broadnax of 603 ½ Floyd Smith Road, Cascade, VA, was arrested on a warrants obtained by investigators for Breaking and Entering and Larceny. Broadnax did unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did break and enter a building occupied by Carrie Harvey used as a residence located at 455 E. Meadow Road, Eden, N.C. with the intent to commit a larceny of a RCA LCD television valued at approximately $600. He was confined in the Rockingham County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on April 6, 2010. He was also arrested for Possession of Drug paraphernalia (Chapstick modified into a crack pipe). He was released on a written promise to appear in Wentworth District Court on March 18, 2010.

· On Wednesday, March 3, 2010, James Vernon Sexton of 150 S. High Street, Eden, N.C., was charged and issued a citation after a traffic stop on Hamilton Street for Possession of Marijuana. He is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District court on May 25, 2010.
· On Wednesday, March 3, 2010, Bobby Chambers, the caretaker for Merriman Street Wesleyan Church located at 323 Merriman Street, Eden, N.C., reported that someone had attempted to break into the back door of the church. There were visible pry marks around the door lock assembly, but the door was locked. There are no suspects at this time. The investigation continues.
· On Wednesday, March 3, 2010, Watson’s Tire and Brake Center reported a breaking, entering, and larceny from the business. According to the report, perpetrator(s) broke out and entered a window on the west side of the business. Once entry was obtained a Craftsman Tool Box containing assorted tools were stolen. The investigation continues.
· On Thursday, March 4, 2010, the Wash Tub located at 403 Kings Highway reported a larceny from vending machines. According to the report, three vending machines were pried open and $50 worth of change and $10 worth of snacks were stolen. The investigation continues.
· On Thursday, March 4, 2010, Betty Craig Newby of 302 Kennedy Street reported a larceny. According to the reporting party, 40 Alprazolam (Xanax) tablets were stolen from her medicine cabinet between February 26, 2010 and March 4, 2010. The investigation continues.
