Shaw Construction and Duke Energy Deliver Christmas Gifts
(Eden, NC) – More than 100 Eden area children will benefit from the generosity of caring workers from Shaw Construction and Duke Energy, who have teamed up to buy gifts to assist the Salvation Army’s Christmas Angel Program. The workers, have also, packed hundreds of holiday food boxes, for the Salvation Army’s Food giveaway program. Examples of caring and contributing that will help so many Eden area families during the 2011 holiday season.
Shaw Construction is overseeing the current construction project of a $700 million gas-powered electric plant in Eden, N.C. The project, which began in 2010, has more than 500 workers involved in the construction of the new plant and is slated for completion in December of 2012. Duke Energy employees have joined with Shaw Construction in their support of the Christmas Angel Project.
“We are very grateful to the workers at Shaw Construction and Duke Energy for their extreme generosity and willingness to help those in need in our city and county,” stated Eden Police Chief Reece Pyrtle and a Salvation Army Board Member.
On Wednesday, December 14th, 2011, employees of Shaw Construction and Duke Energy began transporting the numerous items that have been gathered for the Christmas Angel Project recipients, to the Eden Salvation Army for distribution. Assisting with the transport was Law enforcement officers from the Eden Police Department and the State Highway Patrol. Prior to the delivery of the gifts, Employees from Shaw Construction and Duke Energy gathered together for a few pictures.
