WENTWORTH, NC (July 14, 2017) – The Rockingham County Board of Commissioners honored, Jackie Cantrell of Eden, as Outstanding Volunteer of the Month at the Board’s regular meeting, Monday, July 10th, in Wentworth. Board Chairman Mark Richardson presented Cantrell with a special certificate and lapel pin from Commissioners.

Sutherland Products Inc – Makers of Charlie’s Soap – Opens New Location

Rockingham County, NC (July 12, 2017) – Sutherland Products Inc., makers of Charlie’s Soap, along with the Rockingham County Center for Economic Development, Small Business & Tourism, the Town of Stoneville, and the Western Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at the company’s new Stoneville location earlier today. The new facilty is located at 301 South Henry Street in Stoneville and is the company’s second facility in Rockingham County.

Citizens’ Academy Grads Urge Residents to Apply for Fall Citizens’ Academy by July 31st

Citizens’ Academy applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a Rockingham County resident, or an employee or business owner in Rockingham County.  All Rockingham Community College students (in and out of County) may participate.  Fall Session: Thursday Evenings, from Sept. 7 – Nov. 9, 2017. Graduation: Monday, Nov. 20th County Commissioners’ meeting. (Recognitions Section of the 6:30 p.m. meeting of Rockingham County Board of Commissioners).

Shiloh Airport Improvements Affect Safety, Economics & Tourism

WENTWORTH, NC (June 29, 2017) – Several weeks ago, the N.C. Board of Transportation approved $35.4 million of state funding to enhance safety, economic development and tourism for 11 airports across the state. The local impact involves Rockingham County’s Shiloh Airport, being earmarked for approximately $3.6 million, for runway repaving.
