Notice is hereby given of a Public Hearing to be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as it may be reached on the agenda, at the Governmental Center, Second Floor, Commissioners’ Meeting Room, Wentworth, North Carolina, pursuant to N.C.G.S. §153A-306 to abolish the Spray Rural Fire Service District and pursuant to N.C.G.S. §153-304.3 to relocate the boundary lines for the Draper Rural Fire District and Leaksville Rural Fire District with the Smith River being the boundary for each district.

Also to be considered, changing properties in the Town Creek Road area, beginning at the northeast corner of 1255 Town Creek Road and continuing northeast on Town Creek Road to the Town Creek Bridge where it meets Oregon Hill Fire District, from Leaksville Rural Fire District to Draper Rural Fire District, so as to be consistent with the current insurance district. Further to be considered, properties south of Eden Road area, which are currently in the Leaksville Rural Fire District to be moved to the Shiloh Rural Fire District and further properties north of Eden Road currently in the Shiloh Rural Fire District to be moved to the Leaksville Rural Fire District as agreed upon by the Board of Directors of the Leaksville Fire Department and the Shiloh Fire Department to geographically better serve the property owners of said districts. Maps of the proposed Service Districts and a report as required by subsection (b) of G. S. 153A-302, along with legal descriptions of each proposed service district are available for public inspection in the Office of the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, Rockingham County, Wentworth, North Carolina. All persons interested in this matter are invited to be present at the hearing where they will be given an opportunity to be heard.

The FY 2013-2014 recommended budget for Rockingham County has been presented to the Board of Commissioners and is available for public inspection in the Office of the Clerk to the Board, Governmental Center, Second Floor, Wentworth, NC, the County website  www.co.rockingham.nc.us  and the public libraries.

The proposed budget provides for an ad valorem tax rate of $0.696 per one hundred dollar valuation.

A regular monthly meeting of the Hunting & Wildlife Advisory Committee is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2013, 6:30 p.m., Commissioners Annex, Rockingham County Governmental Center, 371 NC 65, Wentworth, N.C.

The purpose of the meeting is continuation of work on the Committee, including consideration of citizen concerns related to hunting and wildlife in Rockingham County, planning of the 2013 Sportsman’s Forum: Firearms and the Family, and discussion of other matters deemed necessary.
