			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>(Eden, NC) &#8211; The Eden City Council held their regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. During the meeting Mayor John Grogan, presented Local Radio Host Mike Moore of WLOE/WMYN with a Plaque and Proclamation honoring Moore&#8217;s 50 years in Broadcasting.</p>
<p>The Council also held a Public hearing for a proposed Re-zoning request for 606 Long Street from Residential-20 to Residential-Suburban, this Rezoning request was met with a few members of the citizens gathered speaking in opposition to the re-zoning, expressing concerns about what future development might occur with such a change in the zoning. The Council tabled the request for a period of 30-days to allow more time to look into the re-zoning before making a ruling on the request.</p>

<p>Duke Energy District Manager Davis Montgomery, gave a presentation to update the Council on the construction on the gas-powered plant that is currently under construction next to the exisiting steam plant in Eden.</p>

The Cheer competition was held on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Newbridge Ballpark, home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball team in Greensboro, NC.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On August 15, 2002, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the bodies of Michael and Mary Short were discovered in their Bassett, Henry County, Virginia, home. Michael was found on the couch inside the attached garage of the home with an apparent gun shot wound to his head. His wife Mary was found lying in her bed and had suffered the same fate as her husband. The Short&#8217;s 9-year-old daughter, Jennifer, was not located in the home and a search ensued for the missing child. Jennifer&#8217;s remains were found on September 25, 2002, along a stream bed off of Grogan Road, Stoneville, Rockingham County, North Carolina. It was determined that Jennifer&#8217;s death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head.Law enforcement authorities continue to seek the public&#8217;s help in locating the suspect(s) involved in the murders of Michael, Mary and their young daughter Jennifer Short.</p>

<p>During the meeting, which all council members were present, with the exception of Councilman Turner, the Reidsville City Council, took action on 4 different Public Hearings, the first was the consideration of a Economic Incentives Agreement for Albaad/AFG Wipes. City Manager Kelly Almond, during the City Manager&#8217;s Report, brought before the board a request for funds to cover the repairs of the Solid Waste Transfer Station equiptment on Scales Street in Reidsville.  View these Council decisions and more in the video above.</p>
