(Wentworth, NC) – On Friday August 13, 2010, the High School Football season got a early start with a series of scrimmages as part of the 2010 Newbridge Bank Cheerleading and Football Jamboree. The Jamboree is a fund raiser for area high schools.

2010 Animal-Palooza Photo Gallery

(Eden, NC) – On Saturday, June 26th Dyers located at 233 S. Hamilton St, Eden, NC, helped to host the Annual APSRC Animal-Palooza event. Pet owners and lovers had a chance to meet Suzie of “Suzie’s Law” as well as enter a Pet Look-a-like contest, visit with vendors and animal care professionals.

Suzie was just a puppy when she was attacked and burned in Greensboro, NC, sparking outrage with animal rights activists. Activists who banded together and helped to get a bill signed by Governor Bev Perdue, that raises the penalty for animal cruelty in the state of North Carolina. This year’s Animal-Palooza was a great success with a good turn out and nice weather, below are some pictures from the event.

Cooling Off Central Elementary Style

(Eden, NC) – As the end of the school year aproaches and the tempture outside climbs, students at Central Elementary School in Eden, NC cooled off with a Water Day. Water Day is an event that allows the students to participate in Water related activities, of which Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page, took part in a dunking booth activity, that allowed kids to toss softballs at a target in order to dumk the high sheriff. Mamebers of the Eden Fire Department were on hand to spray water from a nearby hydrant for kids to play in the cascading water and resulting pool of water that formed on the field. County Veterans and Guest Visit Washington

A group of Rockingham County veterans and guests recently visited Washington, DC, touring the WWII, Korean, and Viet Nam Memorials and other historic sites in Washington, DC. They were also given a tour of the Capitol by Congresswoman Virginia Foxx.

6th Annual Spellin’ Bee – Eden Chamber of Commerce

(Eden, NC) – On March 16th, the Eden Chamber of Commerce held it’s 6th Annual Spellin’ Bee. Teams competed to raise money in support of a scholorship to benefit Morhead Senior High Students who plan on attending Rockingham Community College after graduation.
