Bring on the Spring for Rockingham County !!

Bring on the Spring for Rockingham County!!

Ahh!! Alas it is the very first spring day in the county. But does that mean we will be experiencing MORE SUNSHINE and GROWTH and BEAUTIFUL weather? Well, if you have had as much experience as I have… and I know most of you have.. the weather can be anything here lately..The only thing definite about spring right now is that I can tell you its beautiful outside but Im cold…

Meterologists depict the beginning of spring as March 1st …the first occasion which on the average is taken to mark the first day of the season.

However, March 20th this day is to scientist know as the first day of the astronomical spring. This means that it refers to the position of the earths orbit in relation to the sun taking into account equinoxes and solstices. since the seasons vary in lenth the start day of a new season can fall on different days.

Meterological season starts between March 1 2017 and ends on May 31 2017.

The Astronomical season starts march 20th (TODAY!!) and ends on June 20th 2017.

Bet you didn’t know there were two first days of spring, huh? Neither did I.. I am anticipating warmer weather, but I guess we should just enjoy whatever we are given until the atmosphere makes up its mind..

Did you also know The word Equinox is derived from the Latin Equi (meaning Equal) and nox (meaning Night)

Until then…enjoy these images of spring!!
